| In 1998 Andy was appointed by the Governor to serve as a member of the Massasoit Community College Board of Trustees. Governor Cellucci reappointed him to the Board in 1999 and Governor Romney reappointed him in 2004. He has served in various leadership positions at Massasoit, including as Chairman of the Board, Chairman of the Fiscal Affairs and Administrative Policy Committee, Chairman of the Academic and Student Affairs Committee, and Chairman of the Presidential Evaluation Task Force. He has been a leading voice on the Board, stressing fiscal discipline, fiscal accountability, quality education and low student fees. Andy Burbine is a lifelong resident of Abington, having graduated from Abington High School. He has been actively involved in local government for over 20 years. He served as an elected member of the Abington School Committee for six years. When elected to the School Committee Andy was 24 years old, the youngest person elected to the School Committee in Abington’s history. He was a member of the Abington Finance Committee for four years, serving one year as chairman. He served as Abington’s Town Moderator for seven years. Andy has served on Abington’s Charter Review and By-Law Review Committees. He was instrumental in rewriting Abington’s new charter. The new charter implemented a town manager form of government for Abington, a much needed change for the town. The voters overwhelmingly approved the charter changes in 2004.
