| September 20, (Early) results from yesterday's Primaries
Kerry Healey and Reed Hillman became the official GOP entrants into the November General Election. This race against Democrat candidates Deval Patrick (Governor) and Tim Murray (Lt. Governor) will provide pretty clear choices for the voters. In Plymouth County, Olly deMacedo is at the center of an interesting story. Paul T. Curtis this past spring became the sole candidate for the House 12th Plymouth. However, with the appointment of House 12th Plymouth Rep. Tom O'Brien to the post of Plymouth County Treasurer (John McLellan retired earlier this summer), the House seat suddenly became an open race. Thus, Olly waged a sticker write-in campaign to seek the GOP nomination. As of early this morning, it appears that Paul Curtis narrowly edged Olly by four votes. News reports are that Olly will request an official recount of the results due to the closeness of the race. This is still a developing story. At the state-level, the race between Kevin Scott and Ken Chase for the GOP nomination to U.S. Senate was very close. Ken Chase appears to have won by about 1300 votes. He will challenge Ted Kennedy for the seat the Senator has held since 1962. |
