CANDIDATE SPOTLIGHT - Phil Paleologos for Governor's Council, 1st District
  Represents voters in one of eight districts of the Commonwealth, including communities in Barnstable, Bristol, Dukes, Nantucket and Plymouth (Bridgewater, Carver, Kingston, Lakeville, Marion, Mattapoisett, Middleborough, Pembroke, Plymouth, Plympton, Rochester, Wareham) Counties.  {http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/eledist/counc02idx.htm provides complete listing}
   The Massachusetts Governor's Council, also known as the Executive Council, is composed of eight individuals elected from districts, and the Lt. Governor who serves ex officio. The eight councillors are elected from their respective districts every two years.
The Council generally meets at noon on Wednesdays in its State House Chamber, next to the Governor's Office, to act on such issues as payments from the state treasury, criminal pardons and commutations, and approval of gubernatorial appointments; such as judges, notaries and justices of the peace [previous text from Mass.gov website].
   Phil Paleologos believes the Commonwealth of Massachusetts needs judges who will stop legislating from the bench and he knows that he can best help our community as a member of the Governor’s Council.  Phil’s Experience as a business owner (Shawmut Diner in New Bedford, MA), media personality (host of a nationally syndicated radio program), counselor, philanthropist, husband, father and grandfather will bring an important voice to the judicial selection process.  Phil will work to make sure potential judges understand the important contribution that small business owners make to the economy.  Phil will make sure potential judges are tough on the convicted criminals who prey on the working people and children of our community.
