| A rundown of the top stories of the year 2004....
5) More than 130 Republican stepped forward to run for State legislative races. This resulted in primaries in some communities, and represented one of the strongest showings of Republican activism at the local level in a very long time. 4) The Plymouth County Republican Club became revitalized. A number of meetings and gatherings were held to unite Republicans. These served to show that the party is alive, and to provide additional visibility to local Republican candidates. 3) On a sad note, Ronald Reagan passed away. The 40th President of the United States died at the age of 93. 2) George W. Bush was re-elected President of the United States. Overall, he convincingly captured the popular vote, leaving lettle doubt as to who was the choice of the America people to lead for the next four years. 1) Political newcomer Joseph McDonald unseats Joseph McDonough (D) to become the 30the Sheriff of Plymouth County. With results that were very close all night on Election Day, Joseph McDonald bested the incumbent by about a thousand votes after all of the votes were counted. |
