| September 21, CBS News and Politics
Media plays a vital role in the election process, providing a conduit for candidates to get their message out, and by impartially critiquing those positions. CBS News went far beyond their role in publicizing the information brought forth by an individual. CBS should have known that this person was partial to the other side, and as such, should have been even more diligent in verifying the statements and reports. Their failure to properly review the alleged facts prior to widely broadcasting those allegations is a breach of trust. Dan Rather and CBS News are wrong, and a late apology does not absolve them of their guilt. They have broken their bond with the American people. We leave it to you, American citizens, as to what should happen to them as a result of their unwarranted attack on the integrity of our President. This was a cheap ploy for ratings, sensational journalism at its worst. Since business operates on money, perhaps you may consider not watching CBS News or 60 Minutes, and hit CBS where it will deliver a strong message -- at their financial bottom line. |
