| Planned events for Reagan state funeral Chronology includes week’s events on both coasts The Associated Press Updated: 5:36 p.m. ET June 06, 2004 Joanne Drake, a spokeswoman for the Reagan family, released the following schedule of events for the funeral of President Reagan, who died on Saturday: MONDAY: 10 a.m. PT: Reagan family motorcade and hearse leave Santa Monica funeral home en route to Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley. 11 a.m. PT: Reagan family private ceremony at library. 12 p.m. PT: Reagan lies in repose at the library’s main lobby for public closed casket visitation which continues through the night. Buses will transfer visitors from Moorpark College in nearby Moorpark. TUESDAY: 6 p.m. PT: Lying in repose at library concludes. WEDNESDAY: 8:30 a.m. PT: Reagan family motorcade departs presidential library en route to Naval Base Ventura County in Point Mugu. 9:30 a.m. PT: Aircraft departs Point Mugu for Andrews Air Force Base, outside Washington. 5 p.m. ET: Aircraft arrives at Andrews Air Force Base. 6 p.m. ET: Formal funeral procession to U.S. Capitol, with casket transfer onto horse-drawn caisson at 1600 Constitution Avenue, an open area near the White House and the Washington Monument. 7 p.m. ET: State funeral ceremony in Capitol Rotunda. 8:30 p.m. ET: Lying in state begins in Capitol Rotunda and continues through the night. THURSDAY: All day: Lying in state continues for 24 hours in Capitol Rotunda. FRIDAY: 10:45 a.m. ET: Motorcade departs U.S. Capitol. 11:30 a.m. ET: National funeral service at Washington National Cathedral. 1:45 p.m. ET: Motorcade departs National Cathedral. 2:45 p.m. ET: Aircraft departs Andrews Air Force Base. 4:45 p.m. PT: Aircraft arrives at Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu. 6 p.m. PT: Motorcade arrives at presidential library. 6:15 p.m. PT: Private burial service at presidential library. 7:30 p.m. PT: Burial ceremony concludes. |
