| May 21, "Hurting the many to suit the few", Boston Globe letter IT WAS ironic that on the day after a Globe review of the new Convention Center (Living/Arts, May 19), the residents of the Commonwealth were treated to a presentation of the nightmare that the Democratic National Convention will cause: parking lots closed, commuter rail disruptions, highway closures for miles. Mayor Menino should remind us how this event will be an economic boom to the community. Enough is enough. Either move the event to the new Convention Center or cancel it. I challenge state leaders to say that disrupting the lives of hundreds of thousands of residents as well as the financial cost to businesses in and around Boston demands that this event cannot take place as currently planned. This event is a fun time for a few thousand delegates and assorted elected officials. Where does a party for a few get the right to disrupt the lives and livelihoods of so many? JOSEPH GILLIS JR.
